Sharps Recovery
High-end keyboards today use ebony, a material that is expensive and endangered. Ebony today is also grown quickly and has an uneven color. To achieve a uniform jet-black appearance, ebony must undergo ebonization—a staining process that, in our view, negates its inherent value. As a responsible alternative, we offer pear wood, a very dense and stable hardwood that ebonizes beautifully. We also provide plastic sharps in glossy, satin, or matte upon request.
In the meantime, we are actively working to source sustainably farmed ebony for a unique offering to the trade.
